Indus Valley Civilization Explorer

The Pakistan Embassy showcased the Indus Valley Civilization in Berlin using Digital Munich’s virtual reality app, enhancing cultural tourism in Pakistan.

The Indus Valley Civilization, one of the world’s oldest and most significant ancient cultures, is a cornerstone of Pakistan’s rich heritage. Sites like Mohenjo-Daro offer a glimpse into this ancient world but remain difficult for many to visit due to geographic and logistical constraints. Despite its potential as a cultural and historical tourism hub, Pakistan’s tourism industry only contributes about 2.8% to the national GDP, due to challenges such as limited infrastructure. To address this, the Pakistan Embassy in Berlin aimed to leverage modern technology to bring the wonders of the Indus Valley to a global audience.

In collaboration with Digital Munich, the Pakistan Embassy launched a digital tourism corner. This corner hosts digital experiences, including the Indus Valley Civilization Explorer app. The app allows users to explore the ancient city of Mohenjo-Daro through a virtual reality experience.

This not only promotes Pakistan’s cultural heritage but also enriches global understanding of one of history’s most important civilizations. The app, featured in the Pakistan Embassy’s digital tourism corner in Berlin, offers visitors an engaging and educational experience. It is also showcased at international events like ITB Berlin, further enhancing Pakistan’s profile as a destination for cultural tourism. By making the Indus Valley accessible through virtual reality, Pakistan is taking a significant step towards boosting its tourism sector and enhancing cultural exchange on a global scale.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Digital Munich for their invaluable contribution in creating this tourism corner for Pakistan. Their dedication of time and resources has been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition.”
